Jon Sumrall put his best foot forward on behalf of the Florida Gators' efforts to flip two elite prospects and that should become the standard.
This past weekend, the Gators hosted both Jalen Brewster, the top-ranked defensive lineman in the country, and Easton Royal, a five-star prospect and top wide receiver out of New Orleans, on official visits. Both players are committed to other schools, Brewster to Texas Tech and Royal to Texas, but Sumrall has done a great job at getting both players to consider a future with the Gators. Sumrall has shown the power of the Florida Gators brand during this first recruiting cycle, along with some of the increased cache he has out on the trail.
Florida has Rivals No. 6 ranked recruiting class and hosted a couple 5-stars and a few more key targets this weekend.

The Gators remain one to watch moving forward.
"I feel Sumrall is going to make the Gators a great program again."

"One thing is clear under this new Florida coach staff, it doesn't matter the side of the ball. It doesn't matter about the position room. They're going after the best players in the country, and they're looking to put Florida back in the national title conversation sooner rather than later," Steve Wiltfong said over the weekend on his "Wiltfong Whiparound" webcast.
"I view the Gators as the biggest threat to the Red Raiders. I still think it'll take a lot to flip Jalen Brewster from Texas Tech and they will get the last offer visit on the weekend of June 19, but Florida continues to give Brewster and his family a lot to think about," Wiltfong said.
Is Jalen Brewster in play for the Florida Gators?
Brewster has kept a lot of his recruitment close to the vest. He didn't announce his official visit to Florida until the middle of the week, but don't take that late announcement as a lack of interest. Brewster, the top-ranked player in the country according to Rivals/On3, is no stranger to the Gainesville campus and has dropped in on Sumrall's program three times over the past few months. It's that sort of frequency that Wiltfong believes is a strong sign of how serious Brewster is considering Florida.

Wiltfong adds that the Brewster family has suggested that everyone is equal, which would include other programs he has visited such as Indiana, SMU, LSU and Texas.
How close is 5-star WR Easton Royal to making a flip?
Unlike Brewster, Royal has tightened his recruitment down to three teams — Florida, LSU and Texas. He's been committed to the Longhorns for several months and will be in Austin for the final weekend of the official visit season. However, you can just look on his social media to see how much he enjoyed his time in Gainesville.

"There are some that think that Florida is the biggest challenge to Texas and not LSU. We know that Florida is in the thick of it. He also visited earlier in the spring and gushed about the changes that he saw from the prior regime. Florida also checks a lot of boxes for Easton Royal on the field as well," Wiltfong concluded.
Sumrall did his thing when it came to showing two of the top prospects in the nation where Florida football is heading and why they would want to be part of it. Now we wait to see if one or both players decide to make the change. It would be a landmark shift if either joined the Gators' class. But even if they don't, Sumrall is flexing the power of the Florida Gators brand and there will be many more chances to bring five-star talent into the program.
