Add another one to the 2027 recruiting class for Jon Sumrall and the Florida Gators.

Raheem Floyd, a four-star cornerback out of East St. Louis, Illinois, became the 26th pledge to the Gators, choosing Florida over Missouri in a recruitment that took a major shift over the past three weeks. Floyd gives Sumrall another blue-chip player in a class that's ranked inside the top-10 nationally.

Floyd also took official visits to Missouri (June 5) and Ole Miss (June 18), but it was the visit to Gainesville from June 11–13 that sold him on what Sumrall is building and where the Gators should project over the next few seasons.

"They've got a great scheme. The coaches were very genuine. It kind of felt like home, so when I stepped on campus I just wanted to feel that, and I felt that every time I was there," Floyd said on the Rivals YouTube channel. "I feel like it's a great opportunity. They are building something special, and I want to be part of that."

Florida is the choice for 4-star defensive back Raheem Floyd

Listed at 6-foot and 175 pounds, Floyd is rated as a four-star prospect by both Rivals/On3 and 247Sports. He is a top-200 recruit, coming in at 170th on the 247Sports Composite. He is the 20th-highest rated cornerback in the country and a top-10 player in Illinois. Other offers included Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Florida State, North Carolina, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt and many others.

It's the second commitment in as many days for the Gators, who landed in-state cornerback Kamauri Whitfield on Monday. They join four-star recruit Amare Nugent and three-star recruit Aamaury Fountain as projected corners in the class. Floyd was recently named one of the MVPs of The Opening showcase, which was his opportunity to go up against the best high school talent in the country.

What's left for Jon Sumrall in Florida's 2027 recruiting class?

It feels like this class is close to full. Of the final six targets that were identified a couple of weeks ago, all six are committed, with Whitfield and Floyd coming to Gainesville. Four-star wide receiver Eric McFarland chose Texas A&M over the Gators and a few other schools, while four-star offensive lineman Antonio Berry opted for Ole Miss over Florida and a few other programs.

The other two targets, five-star defensive lineman Jalen Brewster and five-star wide receiver Easton Royal, remain major flip candidates for Sumrall, but recent updates haven't been as promising for the Gators as it appeared several weeks ago. All the schools involved with both players are waiting for some clarity, which should come at some point this month.

At this point, Sumrall's first recruiting class should be considered a rousing success, with five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller, four-star wide receiver Elias Pearl, four-star quarterback Davin Davidson and four-start defensive lineman Cahron Wheeler as the centerpieces of a strong group. The additions of Floyd, Whitfield and several others give the class depth and talent that should help the Gators for several years.
