Dallas Wilson was one of the Gators' top freshmen last season, despite missing the majority fo the year with injuries. The five-star prospect originally signed with Oregon out of high school, but the Tampa native transferred to Florida before the spring to be closer to his family.
One of the big reasons that Wilson felt comfortable making such an immediate move was his relationship with Billy Gonzales. So, it's no surprise that Wilson was quick to send a message of support through social media after it was announced that Florida's new coach, Jon Sumrall, will not be keeping the veteran assistant on staff. Gonzales served as the Gators interim head coach after Billy Napier was fired.
Love ya coach 🙏🏽.

Gator fans hope Wilson is healthy for the next coach
There probably hadn't been a freshman since Tim Tebow, who came to Florida with more fanfare than Wilson. When the blue-chip made the decision to leave Oregon or Florida, it had to feel like the Gators unexpectedly hit the lottery. Then Wilson absolutely showed out in the spring game, which immediately led to expectations of him being the best natural playmaker the Gators have had since Percy Harvin.
Then Wilson got hurt in the summer and missed the first month of the season. He finally got healthy enough to make his debut against Texas and had Gator fans going crazy with six catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns that helped Florida beat the Longhorns for their biggest win of the season.

Wilson had another touchdown the next week against Texas A&M and finished the season with 12 catches for 174 yards and three touchdowns before suffering a foot injury against Georgia that ended his season.
Hopefully Sumrall had already talked to Wilson before this decision was made, because he and running back Jaden Baugh are the two pieces that Gators can build an explosive offense around under new offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner. It's crucial that the Gators retain both players for the 2026 season.
It's a new day in Gainesville and Sumrall is already making major changes while still coaching Tulane for the Green Wave's first-round CFP game against Ole Miss.
