No! Not Dallas Wilson too!

The injury bug continues to bite the Gators, and today it has spread to the dynamic true freshman, who suffered a lower-leg injury during practice and is reportedly already in a hard cast.

Needless to say the injuries on offense have piled up during camp and everyday it seens like another shoe is ready to drop.

Yesterday we learned that running back Treyaun Webb will miss the start of the season after the redshirt sophomore had surgery on a ruptured hamstring muscle. And camp started off with the worst news possible when quarterback DJ Lagway got off to a slow start because of a calf injury

If there's any good news to take out of Wilson's injury, it's that he's still expected to play in the season opening against LIU, and he should only miss a couple of weeks. Wilson, a five-star prospect from Tampa, is expected to be a major piece of the Gators' vertical passing attack this fall.

The expectations for Wilson are off the charts after the 6-foot-3, 210-pounder hauled in 10 passes for 195 yards in the spring game. Overall, the wide receiver room is solid when healthy, but Wilson is special, and he has the game-breaking potential that very few pass catchers in the country possess. His presence can take the Gator offense to another level.

Offensive depth tested by WR injuries

Unfortunately, the wide receiver is a little banged up right now. Eugene Wilson is expected to start, but he's recovering from hip surgery that forced him to miss the final month of last season. Aidan Mizell remains banged up and is practicing in a non-contact jersey.

UCLA transfer J. Michael Sturdivant was already expected to play a big role in the offense, likely lining up across from Wilson and giving the Gators some additional size on the outside. Right now, he's the WR1 in camp and his presence on the field is more important than ever.

Hopefully these early camp injuries are just a bump in the road and things will be fine once the season starts. Expectations are as high in Gainesville as they've been in years and a healthy Gators squad can surpass them.
