This is heartbreak for Wilson and the Gators. The Tampa native missed the first four games of his freshman season with an injury. Since returning to the field, he has made a huge impact on Florida’s offense, appearing in all four games he has been cleared and eligible to play in. He has 12 pass receptions for 174 yards and three touchdowns.
Promising season cut short for Dallas Wilson
Wilson debuted for the Gators on October 4 against No. 9 Texas and made a statement that he is here to stay. He had 11 receptions for 167 yards and two touchdowns against the Longhorns, which set a University of Florida record, and was named SEC freshman of the week for his phenomenal performance.
The following week against Texas A&M, he had three receptions for 20 yards and a touchdown, followed by two receptions against Mississippi State for 36 yards.
Prior to exiting Saturday’s game against Georgia early with the foot injury, he had one reception for seven yards.

Because he has only played in four games, he is eligible to declare redshirt for his freshman year.
Wilson becomes the sixth Gator to suffer a season-ending injury this year as the season continues to go from bad to worse for Florida, which at this point likely won’t find itself appearing in a postseason game either.
With Wilson now out for the season, it is that J. Michael Sturdivant will be who Gator fans see step-up as a go-to wide receiver. The redshirt senior so far this season has 17 receptions for 235 yards and one touchdown.
But losing Wilson is a big blow Florida who will hope the rest of their wide receiver room can step up for the remainder of the season, which continues to be a gauntlet of games remaining on the Gators’ schedule.
