Nick Saban says the last thing Florida wants to hear about Lane Kiffin

As ESPN's College GameDay started everyone's Saturday, legendary head coach Nick Saban said the last thing Florida Gators wanted to hear about Lane Kiffin saga.

On Saturday morning, it truly felt like the drama surrounding the Lane Kiffin situation would never end. With spotty updates from Pete Thamel and rumors flying in every direction, it was getting to a point where everyone just wanted a decision to be made.

During ESPN's College GameDay, legendary head coach turned college football analyst Nick Saban said that we all need to be thinking about this differently.

"This is not a Lane Kiffin conundrum," Saban said. "This is a college football conundrum, and we need some leadership to step up and change the rules."

Saban had been talking about the fact that everyone needed to think about the players, whether it be the Ole Miss Rebels, the Florida Gators, the LSU Tigers, or any other team going through coaching changes this year.

Instead of talking about the money or how soon Kiffin should make his announcement, Saban was standing by the athletes whose lives change drastically when someone else chooses to take a new job or not.

"Everybody should be thinking about the players," Saban said. "Players should be able to play for their coach for the entire season. Players shouldn’t be penalized if a coach leaves, because the committee has the opportunity; if a player or coach doesn’t participate, they can sink you in the rankings."

The entire College GameDay crew (composed of Saban, Rece Davis, Pat McAfee, Desmond Howard, and Kirk Herbstreit) seemed to agree that Kiffin should wait until the season comes to an end to decide whether he's staying at Ole Miss or not.

That's the last thing Florida fans want to hear as they eagerly (and anxiously) wait to hear if they have landed Kiffin as their next head coach or not.

On Friday night, just a few hours before CGD kicked off Saturday morning, On3 reported that LSU was about to extend a $90 million contract in Kiffin's direction. Throughout Saturday morning, Thamel shared updates that didn't provide any real clarity on whether it was real or not, or if Kiffin had made a decision yet.

No matter what anybody said on Friday or Saturday, or any other day of the week, the Ole Miss athletic director had shared that an announcement surrounding Kiffin's future with the Rebels wouldn't come until after the Egg Bowl on Friday, Nov. 28.

So, at the end of the day, everyone (Rebels, Gators, and Tigers included) was going to have to wait at least a few more days to learn anything concrete about the Ole Miss head coach.
