There's hot, and then there's red hot. We don't have to tell you what applies to Florida's Jon Sumrall, as he has been on fire recruiting-wise. In the span of about two hours, Sumrall was able to reel in the commitments of four-star defensive lineman Cahron Wheeler and Georgia safety Kamarion Johnson. Both are in Gainesville for their official visits.

Cahron Wheeler had Jon Sumrall going wild after he gave Florida his pledge

Even more studs could be on the way too, as Sumrall is up to 21 total commits for the 2027 haul. As for Johnson, he was also giving Cincinnati and Florida State a serious look, but his time on campus for his OV made it more than clear to him why his future should be with the Gators. And he made things even better by explaining to Chad Simmons why UF just felt like home.

“The brotherhood stands out the most," Johnson told Simmons. "The coaches, the players, and the fans. It can be a great program, and the coaches and the players are working to make it the best place it can be. I felt that and saw that when I was down there for spring practice.”

Florida stays hot with Kamarion Johnson committing to Jon Sumrall

This is most definitely not the first time that we've heard a new commit hype up the job Sumrall and his staff are doing. With Johnson, it always felt like he was a strong Florida lean, but we all know the impact a visit can make on a recruit and his family. The Gators rolled out the red carpet for this week's group of visitors, and we're already seeing things pay off in a big way.

Johnson may be considered a bit under the radar, as he's a three-star guy and the No. 39 safety in the country per the 247Sports Composite. He's also the No. 46 prospect overall coming out of the Peach State. Throughout his recruitment, he had 13 offers to his name, with Florida, FSU, and Cincinnati standing out.

It's always a positive for Sumrall when he can land a jab on Mike Norvell and the Seminoles. Johnson was scheduled to visit Tallahassee on June 12, but you can go ahead and take that trip off the books now that he gave Sumrall his pledge. Might another commit or two be on the way sooner rather than later as well?

That's something that can never be ruled out now that Sumrall is running the show for the SEC powerhouse. Yes, the program has been through some lean years of late, but the culture is changing, and it's changing fast now that Billy Napier is out of town. Sumrall continues to impress with his recruiting efforts, and things are only made better with the buy-in from recruits.

It's not just Sumrall who is impressing, though, as his assistants are also turning plenty of heads. All in all, the vibes are just right in Florida, and the start of official visit season has been tremendous for the Gators. This just goes to show the impact Sumrall is making overall, which has been great to see.
