Jon Sumrall has already shown to be a menace in recruiting and if that success can carry over to the field in his first year with the Florida Gators, he could also be a menace on the coaching carousel.
Brooks Austin released his list of coaches on the hot seat and Sumrall is presumably going face three of them this season. The Gators will take on Shane Beamer and South Carolina on October 10, followed by Steve Sarkisian and Texas on October 17 and will end the regular season with Mike Norvell and FSU on November 27.

Beamer appears at the top of the list and Sarkisian is at No. 10. It's actually a list of 11 coaches because Austin believes Norvell is basically fired already. Let's start from the bottom up here.
Could a loss to Florida be the end of Steve Sarkisian? Probably not.
It's lilely a fact that Texas was kept out of the CFP last season because of a 29-21 upset loss to the Gators in a game that actually wasn't as close as the score would indicate. That was a bad loss for the Longhorns and one that continues to haunt them to this day. Anotther loss to Florida, especially in Austin, would certainly have the natives a little restless, but I don't think there's a desire to get rid of Sarkisian unless this season proves to be a flat out disaster. He's had three straight seasons of 10-plus wins and got the Longhorns to the CFP semifinals two years ago. There is some precedent here after what Penn State did to James Franklin, but I think the Nittany Lions are going to really regret that over time and Texas isn't going to make the same impulsive mistake.

Jon Sumrall can put a questiona mark around Shane Beamer's future with South Carolina
Beamer is barely above .500 as a coach and is eight games under that in the SEC. He's done some good things, but the ceiling might be a little too low for South Carolina to think there's some amazing potential benfit in keeping him. Beamer feels like he could be one of the big wild cards among SEC coaches. The Gamecocks SHOULD be 4-1 when they enter the Swamp, so a loss won't get people too sour on him. Anything less than 4-1, however, and Florida becomes a crucial swing game and a chance for Sumrall to make an opposing coach's life miserable.
Will Mike Norvell even get a chance to coach against Jon Sumrall?
The thought of Norvell being the head coach at FSU at the end of the season seems laughable. The Seminoles have already given off the impression that they are punting on this season and looking at Norvelll less as the coach of the future and more like a guy who will cost them less of a buyout for every game he coaches. It's a 50-50 chance at best that Sumrall and Norvell go head-to-head in the Sunshine Showdown, but if it happens, there's almost a 100-percent chance that Sumrall will make sure it's Norvell's last game at FSU.
