As Florida starts to focus on the class of 2028, it found out over the weekend that they are in the final five for QB Lukas Prock. It was a bit of a surprise, only because Prock is from New Jersey and the other four schools on his list are either Big Ten schools or Notre Dame.
Based on optics, it seems like Florida still has a long way to go to land Prock. But as we like to do at Hail Florida Hail, it’s one thing to point out that Prock is a top 100 overall prospect in the class of 2028, but it’s another to actually dive into the film and look at the player Jon Sumrall and crew are trying to get to come to Gainesville.
So let’s take a look at what Prock has to offer.
Florida in top five for QB Lukas Prock
Listed at 6’2”, Prock isn’t necessarily imposing on the field, but he stands tall, and size shouldn’t be an issue once he reaches college, especially if he has any more growth spurts in him. For what it is worth, of the 13 QBs in the top 200 overall in the 247 Composite, Prock is one of only two QBs listed at 6'2" or shorter.
His mechanics feel repeatable, and while he isn’t necessarily a running QB, he is very comfortable when throwing on the run. Likewise, his passes don’t necessarily have a “zip” that jumps off the screen, but he has the arm strength to get the ball 40 or more yards downfield with minimal effort.
He also doesn’t panic when things get busy in the pocket. While he could benefit from stepping up rather than drifting back, he’s not one who is looking for an escape route the moment a defensive lineman gets within arm's reach. He will stand in the pocket and take some hits while delivering a dime down the field.
He had seven interceptions in 2025, but for someone who averaged almost 26 attempts per game and had over 4,000 yards with 41 TDs, that’s a worthwhile tradeoff.
The 247 Composite has him as the 6th-ranked QB for the class of 2028. Without doing a deep dive comparison of all the QBs in the top ten, this feels like a fair enough landing spot for Prock.
It may seem silly to be zeroing in on a QB who hasn’t even started their junior year of high school, but at some point, the Gators will need to lock in. Four of the top ten QBs for 2028 have already made a commitment, so this list of available QBs will whittle down sooner rather than later.
