Florida will be pitted against Big Ten powers and Notre Dame for 4-star QB Lukas Prock

Lukas Prock is one of the top quarterbacks in the 2028 class and the four-star prospect out of New Jersey might be deciding on his college home sooner than later.

The good news is that the Florida Gators are in his final five, joining Indiana, Notre Dame, Michigan and Ohio State. Prock had a monster sophomore year for The Hun School in Princeton, N.J., completing over 70 percent of his passes and throwing for 4,330 yards with 41 touchdowns against just seven interceptions. Listed at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, Prock spent his freshman year in Wellesley, Massachusetts before transferring to the Hun School. Rivals named him a Sophomore All-American.

It's a Big Ten/Northeast heavy group on that final list, which makes the Gators inclusion even more interesting and shows the work that Jon Sumrall and offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner have put into this recruitment along with quarterbacks coach Joe Craddock.

Prock is rated as the sixth-best quarterback according to the 247Sports Composite and No. 69 player overall in the 2028 class. Rivals/On3 has a similar ranking with Prock as the seventh-best quarterback in the class and No. 68 nationally. Both sites have Prock as a top-five player in New Jersey.

The offer list is extensive. Beyond his final five, Prock also received offers from LSU, Michigan, Auburn, Iowa, Duke, Illinois, Virginia, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and a host of others.

4-star QB target Lukas Prock has Florida in his final group

The Gators hadn't been mentioned as much as some of the other programs on Prock's final list, but he was in Gainesville for the Friday Night Lights camp and was able to get in some good work with the Florida coaches. Prock was offered by the staff in April and clearly he's a fan of Tim Tebow.

There have been some dominoes falling for quarterbacks early in the 2028 class and the most recent one came when 4-star quarterback Trey Tagliaferri backed away from his pledge to Notre Dame after less than a week only to commit to Oklahoma soon after. The Rivals' predictor doesn't offer many answers either, since Florida isn't even on the board. Ohio State is listed as a slight favorite with about a 21 percent chance of landing the blue-chip recruit, but Penn State is second on this list and Prock has eliminated the Nittany Lions for now. So, let's wait for that to be updated in the next few days and check back.

Sumrall and staff are already going strong after 2028 prospects and received a commitment from in-state wide receiver Armani Strong, who will be playing for powerhouse Chaminade-Madonna this season.

Other major targets in the 2028 class include five-star edge rusher Asher Ghioto and five-star wide receiver Brysen Wright, who recently turned heads with his performance at the OT7 Finals.
