One day after landing one of the top-rated prospects the Gators have ever landed, Jon Sumrall has kept the momentum going for the class of 2027 because one day after landing Maxwell Hiller to anchor Florida’s offensive line, he has landed QB Davin Davidson for him to protect.
And even though Davidson didn’t start out as a top-rated QB, Sumrall made sure to get involved quickly to lock him down to commit to Gainesville.

Davin Davidson commits to Florida
It wasn’t much of a surprise, but Davidson announced Thursday night he has verbally committed to Florida as part of the class of 2027.
When we first profiled Davidson back in January, he was mostly unranked from all the major sites, but we also had a hunch that wouldn’t last. After a monster 2025 season with Cardinal Mooney, Davidson jumped up to be a composite top 150 prospect who landed an invite to the prestigious Elite 11 Finals this upcoming summer.
Listed at 6’6”, we noted on film back in January that:
“Davidson stands tall and doesn’t seem to panic much in the pocket. He frequently is able to fire throws into tight windows, and he is very comfortable when having to throw on the run, despite his lanky frame that could make throws like that a challenge.
He has some scramble ability, but it is not a key component of his game.”
Florida had company to land Davidson as Notre Dame, Georgia, Georgia Tech, FSU, Auburn, Kentucky, and Miami were among the schools that had offered him since January. He had also attended Miami’s Junior Day last month.
Perhaps just as important is that Jon Sumrall now has his QB and a five-star OL to act as an anchor for Florida’s class heading into the summer to try and attract other high-end playmakers once official visits start to take place.
Davidson joins Hiller, Amare Nugent, Tramond Collins, and Jackson Ballinger as the five current commits for Florida’s class of 2027.
