One of the early defining things for Jon Sumrall as he navigates his way with Florida is going to be what his first full recruiting class looks. Sumrall was able to retain the bulk of what Billy Napier left behind, but those weren’t players that Sumrall picked himself. Now that Sumrall is trying to put together his own class, the headliner for it is always going to be who he lands at QB.
It appears that question is one step closer to being answered, as Florida was given a crystal ball prediction on Monday to land one of the fast-rising QBs in the class of 2027.
Florida given a prediction to land Davin Davidson
Zach Blostein of 247 Sports has logged a prediction that QB Davin Davidson is going to make a verbal commitment to Florida. Davidson was in town this past weekend for a busy recruiting weekend. Georgia, Miami, and Kentucky are among the teams that have made the most notable push for Davidson.
Davidson didn’t start out as the headliner of Florida’s class, but he is working his way up the rankings. When we first profiled him back in January, when he was on campus for Florida’s Junior Day, most sites had him unranked while 247 had him as a three-star.
We noted at the time though that his ranking was bound to shoot up once the updates rolled through, as we said:
“On film, Davidson stands tall and doesn’t seem to panic much in the pocket. He frequently is able to fire throws into tight windows, and he is very comfortable when having to throw on the run, despite his lanky frame that could make throws like that a challenge.
He has some scramble ability, but it is not a key component of his game.”
Since we profiled him, his star ranking has shot up and he is now a consensus four-star with Rivals having him as high as 120th overall for the class of 2027 and 11th among QBs.
Davidson is listed at 6’6” and 215 pounds out of Cardinal Mooney High in Sarasota.
