As is life in college football, the Florida Gators are starting to see a number of players opt for the transfer portal ahead of the 2026 season. Some of these have been a bit of a surprise, while others are just the realities of a team that went 4-8 and has a new coaching staff.

As of now, these are the players who have publicly announced their intention of entering the transfer portal, which doesn’t officially open until January.

WR Muizz Tounkara

A depth piece for Florida who was always going to have a tough time cracking the main rotation for the Gators. He ended 2025 with two catches for 12 yards.

DB Josiah Davis

A lower-rated three-star prospect from the class of 2024, Josiah Davis played 18 snaps in 2024 before appearing in just one game in 2025.

TE Amir Jackson

If one doesn’t follow recruiting then the odds of knowing who Amir Jackson was is low, but he was a highly regarded TE out of the class of 2024 that Florida fans thought would get bigger shine than he did considering Billy Napier’s useage of tight ends.

Jackson had just three catches in 2025 and played 138 snaps.

RB KD Daniels

Another potential playmaker we really liked out of the class of 2024, KD Daniels was going to be the primary running back for Florida out of that class until they flipped Jadan Baugh late. Injuries and a loaded depth chart kept Daniels from getting significant carries.

He ended 2025 with 28 carries for 120 yards.

DB Jordan Castell

The first outright starter to hit the portal, Jordan Castell had been a mainstay in the secondary for the past three seasons.

But passive play made him limited, and his PFF grade went down each season in Gainesville.

QB DJ Lagway

By far the most notable name on the roster to hit the transfer portal, DJ Lagway came to town as the face of the program and flashed a sky high potential his freshman year. An injury-riddled offseason hindered his development, and he looked like a shell of himself in 2025.

Lagway’s camp claims that he wanted to stay in Gainesville, but Jon Sumrall was willing to go all in on Lagway for 2026.

DB Teddy Foster

A lower-rated three-star from the class of 2024 who saw limited snaps during his two seasons with Florida.

WR Aidan Mizell

Most Florida fans really liked Aidan Mizell, but for some reason, Billy Napier did not. Injuries never helped Mizell, but even when healthy, he never seemed to have the trust of the coaching staff.

The former four-star from the class of 2023 and legacy prospect leaves Gainesville with 38 total catches and 404 yards.

OL Marcus Mascoll

A former lower-rated four-star from the class of 2024, Marcus Mascoll did not appear in a single game over two seasons in Gainesville.

WR Tank Hawkins

This one is not a surprise as Tank Hawkins sat out the back end of the season to keep his redshirt status. He arrived in Gainesville with legit track speed (10.37 seconds in the 100-meter dash as a junior in high school), and reports coming out of camp indicated he was dynamic. But as was the case with Mizell, Napier just never found a way to incorperate Hawkins.

Over two years he had 12 catches for 116 yards and one touchdown.

LB Pup Howard

The Jacksonville native transfered in for the 2024 season after spending his freshman season with South Carolina. We were really high on Howard when he transfered in and initially he was as advertised. He was a sure handed tackler in space that even to this day hasn't had a missed tackle according to Pro Football Focus.

Injuries costed him the backend of the 2024 campaign and when the 2025 season started, Howard just wasn't in the rotation anymore. He had 36 total snaps in Florida's first four games before he didn't play another snap all season. Early on, Napier hinted that Howard was hurt despite the fact Howard wasn't listed on the actual injury reports against Texas, Texas A&M, Mississippi State or Georgia.

This list will be updated as more players enter the portal
