Recruiting for the class of 2027 is almost at its proverbial finish line for Florida. The two biggest loose ends to tie up are Jalen Brewster and Easton Royal, both players the Gators have an uphill battle to land, with LSU looming to poach them.

There are two other players Florida seems well-positioned for, and the Gators are hoping they can lock up two more pieces for their class of 2027 by next week.

Florida in the closing stages to land Raheem Floyd and Kamauri Whitfield

Raheem Floyd and Kamauri Whitfield, both cornerbacks that Florida has had their eye on for a long time, should be making their commitments next week. Floyd had planned to commit on Wednesday but pushed it back to July 7. Whitfield plans to commit a day sooner on July 6.

Floyd is the higher-ranked of the two, and the East St. Louis native has had a plethora of predictions roll in that he is going to choose Florida. Missouri has been hot on his trail, and for the longest time, it was believed to be a Florida vs. Missouri battle. And while Florida appears to still be in the driver’s seat, the final official visit Floyd took was to Ole Miss, and insiders believe they are at least trying to make things interesting.

When we first profiled Floyd earlier in the month, we said:

“Floyd does not play like someone who is “just” 170 pounds, as his calling card on film is being a bruiser and playing like someone who could almost pass as a high school linebacker if you didn’t know any better.”

Then there is the conclusion of Whitfield’s recruitment, who has seemingly been pegged for Florida since February. Whitfield was committed to Tennessee, but the Orlando native backed off that commitment in February, and On3/Gators Online promptly logged multiple predictions that he would wind up a Gator.

He took visits to Florida, Oregon, and Nebraska, and the Huskers have done their best to make a late push for the three-star prospect. But on Tuesday, 247 joined the prediction train and logged multiple crystal ball predictions that Whitfield would wind up as a Gator.

When we first profiled Whitfield back in February, we said:

“But despite being a tick shorter than most four-star defensive backs, Whitfield plays with an edge on film that is hard to miss. He is moved all over the field, but he seems to shine most when he gets to play nickel corner. His read of the game is excellent as he doesn’t overpursue and keeps his lane well. When he gets a chance to make a hit, he hits sometimes like a 6’3” linebacker rather than a 5’10” defensive back.”
