The buzz inside The Swamp today is going to be at its highest for the entire season, given the rest of Florida’s home slate. As such, Jon Sumrall is taking advantage of Florida’s early momentum and has a loaded recruiting day set up for the Gators.
And if things go well, there is a potential that today could have some long-lasting effects for Florida that go well beyond just a win.
Brysen Wright and Easton Royal headline a loaded recruiting day
We highlighted earlier in the week how five-star wide receiver Easton Royal is going to be in The Swamp today. Even though Royal is committed to Texas and has had a heavy push from LSU, the Gators aren’t giving up in their pursuit of the speedster from Louisiana. The Gators hosted Royal on his official visit this summer, but the momentum had seemingly faded. With Florida now having a proof of concept to show Royal on offense, this is a last-gasp attempt to claw back and flip Royal.
It can’t hurt that joining Royal today in The Swamp is class of 2028 wide receiver Brysen Wright out of Jacksonville. In the 247 Composite, he is the No. 1-ranked player in the country, and as such, the battle to land Wright is already heating up. He has taken unofficial visits to Texas this season, and Miami, Ohio State, and FSU have been going hard after Wright, too. With Miami specifically, their lack of a Saturday game until today has limited their ability to get prospects on campus, so this gives Florida a chance to showcase an atmosphere Miami could never replicate.

If today goes well for Florida, you know Jon Sumrall is going to be selling to both of these players the new look, high flying offense that the Gators now have compared to the last four years. Players like Wright and Royal would thrive in the current offense Florida has showcased. And given how lively The Swamp was for FAU, we can only imagine how insane things are going to be at kickoff.
Florida’s current class of 2027 has 25 commits and is ranked No. 8 in the 247 Composite. Their class of 2028 has just one commit, but they have been building a solid base with 2028 prospects and should be in a good position once players actually start to commit around January.
