Jac Caglianone cannot be stopped. The Kansas City Royals’ No. 1 prospect on Sunday gave Kansas City 459 feet of reasons that he’s ready for the show. In just his sixth game in Triple-A, Caglianone was 3-for-5 on Sunday with not just one, but TWO more home runs, three RBIs, and two runs scored.
Hitting in the No. 3 spot of the lineup, he annihilated a solo home run 459 feet over the right field fence to give the Storm Chasers the early 1-0 lead over the Salt Lake Bees. It got out at 108.6 mph and had a 31-degree launch angle.
In the top of the sixth, he singled with two out to reach and later advanced to second on a walk by Cam Devanney.
The game was all tied up after nine innings. Caglianone was again the third batter up and with Diego Castillo on second, Caglianone homered again! It was a two-run shot once again out and over the right field fence that gave the Storm Chasers a 5-2 lead over the Bees. That home run got at 107.6mph, with an 18-degree launch angle, and went 364 feet.
They went on to salvage game five of the series 5-3, with three of those RBIs coming off the bat of the red-hot Caglianone, who is giving true meaning to the phrase, “Gator boys stay hot!”
In six Triple-A games, Caglianone has at least one hit in each of them for a six-game hit streak, and the 22-year-old has now homered five times in four games! Through those six games, he is now hitting .346/.357/.923, with a massive 1.280 OPS over the course of 26 Triple-A at-bats.
With five home runs in four days and the Royals sitting in fourth place in the AL Central, Caglianone’s clock is ticking on his time in Triple-A. It is only a matter of time before the Royals make the call.
