Eric Singleton Jr. might be Florida’s most important newcomer in 2026

In the age of the transfer portal, one difficulty for Florida fans is having to relearn the roster every season. Coincidentally, the playmakers on offense are going to be largely the same in 2026 as they were in 2025. Jadan Baugh, Vernell Brown III, and Dallas Wilson are all back and are expected to play key roles for the Gators in 2026.

But one player who is expected to make a huge impact in 2026 is a newcomer to the Gators, and if Florida fans haven’t learned who Eric Singleton Jr. is yet, now is as good a time as any.

Florida’s scrimmage provides another glimpse of Eric Singleton Jr.

Florida had their first scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday. As we noted earlier today, there isn’t much intel coming out of the scrimmage just yet. A handful of reporters were in attendance and will have the ability to ask Jon Sumrall questions at Monday’s news conference.

But Florida Victorious posted a photo on social media of Singleton diving to make a grab and celebrating afterward.  We don’t know the context behind the play, but it reminds Florida fans that Singleton is probably one of the key playmakers in 2026.

Singleton was expected to declare for the NFL Draft after last season with Auburn, but at the last moment he hit the transfer portal and committed to Florida. His stats during his lone season at Auburn weren’t anything crazy, as he had 58 catches for 534 yards. The two years before that, in 2024 and 2023, he caught over 700 yards in each year at Georgia Tech. In 2024, he was also credited with 131 yards rushing.

Who was his offensive coordinator at Georgia Tech? None other than Buster Faulkner, and it’s why Florida fans need to be excited about his potential in Florida’s offense. Singleton had legit track speed coming out of high school, and even though he was just a lower-tier three-star in the class of 2023, Faulkner found ways to get Singleton the ball in space. For what it is worth, strength coach Rusty Whitt said Singleton increased his top speed from 22.74 mph in spring to 23.32 mph this summer.

Gator fans got a glimpse of what Singleton could do at the spring game when he had six catches for 92 yards and a touchdown. And if both Vernell Brown and Dallas Wilson can stay healthy in 2026, Florida has a shot at matchup nightmares across the board.
