What Jon Sumrall has been able to get done out on the recruiting trail for Florida has been out of this world. Among the highlights for him in the 2027 recruiting cycle has no question been landing 5-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller, who is showing no signs of having a change of heart in the near future.
Florida’s Friday Night Lights may have revealed another rising QB target
Over the weekend, the massive lineman was in Gainesville for his official visit, and things could not have gone much better for him. Even leading up to the trip, though, Hiller was singing the praises of the Florida coaching staff, reminding everyone why he committed to the storied SEC program in the first place. On top of that, Hiller didn't hold back with his thoughts on the future, too:

It’ll be his first time on campus since committing to Florida back in April.

Maxwell Hiller is ready for Florida to return to a dominant level of play
Anyone else ready to run through a wall right now? Hiller didn't hesitate to say he wants to bring the old Florida back, surely making people think about the glory days when the Gators were consistently in the hunt for titles. No one has forgotten about when Tim Tebow was leading the charge on offense and producing a lifetime worth of memories.
Since then, however, things have been a bit down in recent years. Billy Napier was supposed to be the one to get Florida back to a high level of play, but the opposite turned out to be the case. While he was a strong recruiter, the results on the field were never there, ultimately leading to his firing. He has since taken over at JMU.
With that, Sumrall has entered the picture, and he's giving the Florida faithful loads of reasons to believe that a better future is on the way, which is something that Hiller and fellow members of the 2027 class are buying into.
Hiller, a 6-5, 300-pound interior lineman, remains the jewel of the '27 haul for Sumrall and his coaching staff. He originally shut down his recruitment back on April 8, picking the Gators over additional offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee and many others.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Hiller is ranked five stars, the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the country, No. 1 player out of Pennsylvania, and No. 3 prospect overall in the country. To say he is a massive get for Sumrall would be such an understatement, as Hiller is the kind of youngster who could help change everything up front in the trenches for Florida down the road.
With 23 hard commits on the way too and Florida's group ranked No. 8 in the country, it just reinforces the fact that Sumrall is cooking with gas on the recruiting trail, and that better days indeed are ahead. Sumrall is saying all the right things, and him winning over so many recruits and their families makes things even better. It seems Hiller himself can't wait to be a force for Sumrall, and Florida fans can't wait to see him in action to
