3-Star Defensive Lineman Joshua Horton Adds Florida to List of Schools

Joshua Horton announced on Twitter Tuesday that he is adding the University of Florida to his list of top schools. Horton is a class of 2023, a 3-star defensive lineman out of Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, Georgia. He has offers from eight other SEC schools, including the defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs, according to 247sports.com.

At 6’5, 275 pounds, Horton played mostly coming around the edge in high school and possesses an excellent ability to read plays and set the edge. Over the last two seasons, he has tallied 177 tackles and six sacks. Horton also helped his team to the state title game in 2021, a game in which they lost 21-20.

Joshua Horton would join a locker room needing depth at the defensive line position. The defensive line this season for the Gators will be full of youth. You can expect plenty of competition on the defensive line heading into the first game to determine the starters outside of Gervon Dexter and Princely Umanmielan. Both Dexter and Umanmielan are young players who you can expect to make a significant impact on the Gator defensive line next season.

Joshua Horton still needs to visit Gainesville but was in the state of Florida this past weekend when he visited UCF. Horton has been heavily favored to land at Auburn. However, we could see an unexpected surge in him to Gainesville as head coach Billy Napier has caused lots of excitement with his hard work on the recruiting trail.

Gator fans are counting down until kickoff, and there are less than 100 days to go until Florida plays Utah at home.

Keep up with Florida football here.
