It’s been a busy few days for the Florida football coaching staff. The Gators hosted several recruits over the weekend in the Swamp, as Billy Napier attempts to salvage the 2022 recruiting class. However, it appears for the Gators to be competitive in the SEC East in 2022 it will from replenishing the Gator roster through the transfer portal.

Let’s take a look at the transfer portal signings that Billy Napier has reeled in so far.

Jalen Kimber transfers from Georgia to Florida football

Jalen Kimber – 4-star cornerback – Georgia Bulldogs

A huge pickup in the transfer portal for Napier. Jalen Kimber was slotted to be the second corner for Georgia heading into 2021. He suffered an injury that kept him out of play and ultimately is leading to his transfer to the Florida football program. If Kimber was slated to crack the starting lineup of Kirby Smart’s team you know he is one talented player. The Gators must replace standout corner Kaair Elam, who is heading to the NFL draft in a few months.

Montrell Johnson – 4-star running back – Louisiana Ragin Cajuns

Montrell Johnson had a tremendous freshman season at ULL, there’s no other way to put it. Johnson saw limited time in 5 of his 14 games in 2021, but that didn’t stop him from racking up 838 yards on the ground for Napier at Louisiana. Johnson had a knack for finding the end zone as well as he added 12 touchdowns on the year. Florida football has to replace the loss of two senior running backs in Dameon Pierce and Malik Davis.

O’Cyrus Torrence – 4-star inside offensive lineman – Louisiana Ragin Cajuns

Billy Napier cashed in for these next two signings. The Florida football program adds some much-needed help on the offensive line. The o-line really struggled in 2021 and the signing of O’Cyrus Torrence will immediately bring stability upfront. Torrence started 13 games in his true freshman year in 2019 and was named a semifinalist for the Joe Moore award in 2020. Personally, I think this is the biggest signing to date for Napier.

Kamryn Waites – 4-star offensive tackle – Louisiana Ragin Cajuns

How about some more help for that offensive line? Sure, yes, please. Another 4-star lineman from Louisiana is headed to the Swamp. As I said before, this team desperately needs help on the o-line. With these two signings, the Gators’ offensive line has gone from a liability to a solid front just like that. Napier did an excellent job pulling in some help from his former school.

Jack Miller – 3-star Quarterback – Ohio State Buckeyes

Jack Miller was a former 4-star recruit coming out of high school. I’m not sure his 3-star rating from the transfer portal is fair. Ohio State always has a slew of top QB recruits and Miller didn’t really see that much time on the field for him to lose a star here. Nonetheless, a huge pickup for Florida as Anthony Richardson is having a knee operation during the offseason. Who knows what is happening with Emory Jones, so this adds some much-needed depth for the Florida football team.

The Florida Gators currently ranks fourth in the 24/7 recruiting 2022 transfer portal class. The teams in front of Florida are LSU, Ole Miss, and Florida State.

Billy Napier essentially used his farm system to pull in three huge recruits for Florida. ULL is arguably losing three of their best offensive players to Napier. I know the ULL fans were happy about Billy passing on LSU and heading to the Swamp instead, but this probably isn’t sitting very well with that fan base.
