With the 2021 NFL Draft over and the schedule release today, it feels like the NFL is starting to heat up. Earlier in the week, we saw the news that former Florida Gators legend Tim Tebow will sign a 1-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, reuniting him with former Florida football head coach Urban Meyer. However, there are still some Gators in the NFL searching for a team. In this article, I am going to predict where each player could sign as a free agent.

Trey Burton, TE

Everyone remembers Trey Burton’s most famous moment in Super Bowl 52 for his “Philly Special” pass to Nick Foles. After a stint with the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts, Burton finds himself as a free agent. Burton has been hampered by injuries after leaving Philadelphia. Burton has had his last two seasons cut short due to injury.

I can see Burton teaming up with another former Gator and first-round pick Kyle Pitts in Atlanta. Atlanta has Hayden Hurst as well. But new coach Arthur Smith loves to play with 12-personnel, as he had 4 tight ends play over 200 snaps in Tennessee last year. Look for Atlanta to add tight end depth, with Burton being the guy they sign.

Brian Poole, S

Undrafted out of Florida, Brian Poole is a guy that was having a great year last year for the New York Jets until a knee injury ended his season in Week 9. Poole played on a 1-year $5 million contract last year, so he has found success since going undrafted.

Poole would definitely be signed right now if not for his knee injury. A place I would love to see Poole go is the Denver Broncos, who just drafted Patrick Surtain II in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The Broncos need secondary help, and Poole would thrive in Vic Fangio’s defensive scheme.

Chaz Green, OT

Chaz Green was a former 3rd round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2015 NFL Draft, most recently playing for the Indianapolis Colts. Green has definitely had his struggles with injuries and inconsistent play in the league. He has been on 4 NFL teams in the last two years.

I do not see Green signing with a team before the season starts, but rather added for depth if a team experiences injuries along the offensive line. An older line that was hampered by injuries last year was the Dallas Cowboys. I won’t put it past Dallas to bring back Green if their older linemen start going down.
