One day after mentioning standout cornerback Kaiir Elam as a potential top 10 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Florida Gators had another Gator mentioned in the top 10 of a 2022 NFL mock draft. That Gator is starting quarterback Emory Jones.

For those that are surprised by this, please make a note that we mentioned Jones as a Gator that could go early in the 2022 NFL Draft. Jones has superstar potential and can show he is one of the best quarterbacks in college football in 2021.

Jones waited his turn at Florida, and the wait was worth it. Jones’ skill set is a perfect fit for head coach Dan Mullen’s offense, and fans should expect a monster year from him.

In the 2022 mock draft, Mike Renner from PFF had Jones going No. 6 overall to the Philadelphia Eagles, two picks before Elam. That would give the Gators two top 10 picks and make it three straight seasons with top 10 picks.

Renner said this about Jones, “This one is obviously a massive projection, as he’s only taken 95 career dropbacks. Jones is one of the best dual threats in the country, though, and he earned an 86.1 rushing grade on 35 carries last season.”

Will Emory Jones be a top 10 pick?

I think this will be an interesting question to follow this year, as Jones has sky-high potential.

The NFL has accepted the fact that quarterbacks who are elite runners can succeed. Jones is just that, an elite running quarterback.

He will be a nightmare for defensive coordinators running the football, but what makes Jones so unique is his arm.

Jones has a strong arm and can make all of the NFL throws. He will need to show he can process the field quickly and make accurate throws in 2021, but I think he will.

If Jones plays the way I think he will, I believe he has a real shot to be a top 10 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, or be a first-round pick at the very least.
