Updated NBA mock drafts offer little consensus on where Thomas Haugh will be picked

The Gators forward is still projected to be selectied in the first round, but where in the first round is still up for debate

Thomas Haugh probably needed to have a strong tournament to solidify his draft status as a mid-first round pick and potentially late lottery guy. But the Gators didn't make it out of the first weekend and Haugh's stock may have suffered because of it.

Haugh is currently projected to land in the bottom third of the first round in several NBA mock drafts. ESPN had Haugh as the No. 11 draft prospect going into the tournament, but post-tournament mock drafts have Haugh going anywhere from No. 13 to the Oklahoma City Thunder (The Athletic) to No. 24, where he would land with the Los Angeles Lakers (The Ringer)

A popular choice to select Haugh would be the Charlotte Hornets. Three different mock drafts (Bleacher Report, Heavy.com and CBS Sports) all have Haugh going to the Hornets with one of their two picks in the first round.

Thomas Haugh is projected to be a top 20-pick in the upcoming NBA Draft

The variance in Haugh's position in the draft shows how potentially unpredictable things could become once it gets outside the top 10. There are probably 6–8 players that are almost guaranteed to be inside the top 10 and after that it's going to come down to fit and projection and team needs. There are also a ton of trades in the first round, so Haugh could simply benefit from a team that covets his skill set that is willing to make a move to get him.

Haugh is going to be very appealing to teams that need a clear glue guy. He will hustle on the floor, fight for rebounds and bring a ton of energy on both sides of the floor. Haugh is physically ready and a very good athlete. If there was one thing missing from his game right now, it's the consistent outside shooting. If Haugh had a reliable outside shot and could shoot closer to 40 percent on 3-pointers, I have no doubt he'd be a lottery guy.

But the mocks all seem to agree that Haugh will be a first-round selection if he decides to leave. He could provide immediate help for teams that are either in the playoffs or on the verge of being a playoff team.
