The world of recruiting can be unpredictable and Florida Football has seen their fair share of twists and turns over the years. Then sometimes the hunch of everyone who follows recruiting plays out as everyone expected.

And the Gators now officially have a chance to cycle back to a safety who most thought would come back even after he committed far away.

Florida Football: Hylton Inn

Back in March, Hylton Stubbs committed to Southern California. It was part of a weird weekend where Keon Young tried to commit to Florida, but Napier turned him away. The belief was that Florida was trying to hold out for Stubbs, the top 100 prospect out of Jacksonville, but Stubbs turned around the next day and committed to the Trojans.

But even when he committed to the USC with academic standards, a lot of fans predicted that he wouldn't actually make it to Los Angeles in 2025.

Those predictions came true as yesterday Stubbs de-committed from Southern California.

When we profiled Stubbs back in February we said:

"The general vibe of a top 75 prospect checks out on film as Stubbs has great instincts for the position and does a great job at reading the eyes of a QB. Even when a receiver is on the other side of the field, Stubbs is often able to make the read and scurry over to either disrupt the play or intercept it altogether.

He's not afraid to be physical though. When given the chance to lay the boom, Stubbs will take that opportunity. And he isn't just a back end ball hawk, as he can burst into the backfield when tasked with a blitz and is a sure handed tackler."

Now that Stubbs is officially back on the market, there appear to be two schools in the running. Florida and Miami are the only two schools beyond USC he took an official visit to.

Tom Loy of 247 had logged a recent crystal ball prediction for the Gators last week but took it down less than an hour later, claiming it does appear to be a true two-horse between the Gators and the Hurricanes.

As Florida looks to jump-start their class of 2025, Stubbs is the type of player who could give the Gators some much-needed momentum,
