With only four previous commitments for the class of 2025, Florida Football is in need of a wave of prospects to begin putting on a Gator hat to get the ball rolling for this cycle.

So while securing a punter isn't the most exciting thing the Gators could do, it does shore up a needed position for the 2025 campaign.

Florida Football: Punters Are People Too

We highlighted earlier in the week the Gators had offered Alex Asparuhov out of California, but noted that Alabama and Oklahoma were also in the running for his services.

So perhaps out of necessity to secure a class of 2025 punter, Florida gained the commitment of Hayden Craig out of Maine by way of Canada. Craig is 6'2" and is considered the 18th-best punter in the country by Kohl's Kicking Camp.

In his profile, he is noted for his two-way ability to kick field goals, but he projects better at the D1 level as a punter. He can boom it as needed and is capable of hang time over four seconds. His Hudl film is short, but he shows some athleticism. One clip shows him getting a punt off despite being flushed out and chased.

Securing a punter for 2025 may not move the needle in the eyes of fans, but it is a necessary addition for the Gators with Jeremy Crashaw graduating after this season. Florida previously had Bobby Engstler committed in the class of 2024 to be Crashaw's successor, but he flipped his commitment after 40 days.

And as we said earlier this week, punter is one of those position you don't think about until your squad doesn't actually have one.
