As Florida football fans are unfortunately becoming accustomed to, being 100% committed to the Gators doesn't actually mean one is 100% committed to the Gators. Florida saw several players flip away from their program in the lead up to early signing day after their original claims were that they we all in with Florida.

But even in the land of flips, a 40 day turn around from being 100% committed and taking an opportunity elsewhere is short, and the end result is that Florida is back to the recruiting board to land a punter for the future.

Florida Football: Exit Stage Left

Bobby Engstler originally committed to Florida as a PWO back on December 7th. The punter out of Tallahassee was considered one of the best in the country and suited up at the Under Armour All-America Game back on January 3rd.

His timeline since committing was filled with Gator posts and it seemed like a nice get for Billy Napier to have a punter in line once Jeremy Crawshaw eventually departs.

We also highlighted Engstler earlier this month when he hinted that Florida wasn't going to be making any drastic changes with their special teams

Fast forward 40 days from his original commitment and Engstler announced on social media yesterday that he will not be attending Florida. Instead he will be taking an opportunity with the University of California Berkeley.

his departure will leave Crawshaw as the only punter on the roster for 2024. And while finding an adequate punter is usually not the hardest task in the world compared to finding a top level QB, it is still one more roster spot that Napier will need to figure out moving forward.
