There is no getting around the fact that the hopes and dreams of the Florida Gators ride on DJ Lagway in 2025. After a spring filled with drama about whether or not his shoulder will be healed in time for the fall, the hype train for Lagway hasn't slowed down.
Add Pro Football Focus to the national entities hoping on the hype train as they have Lagway as one of the top QBs in the country heading into 2025.
Florida QB DJ Lagway rated one of the best QBs in the country
PFF's list of the top ten returning QBs for 2025 had Lagway as the 7th best in the country. This is a tick lower than a couple of other lists have had him, but they also note that the high-end potential he has:
"He might have more arm talent to him than anyone else in the country right now. He is the most physically talented quarterback in America."

PFF also notes their concerns, which include footwork and overall accuracy. That's nothing new, as Lagway was praised all last year for his big arm, but he did struggle with intermediate routes, and as we saw against Tulane in the Gasparilla Bowl he had a weakness against teams that dropped eight into coverage against him.
There is some concern, too, that Lagway wasn't able to establish a connection with his new crop of wide receivers, which features J. Michael Sturdivant and Dallas Wilson on top of returners Tre Wilson and Aidan Mizell.
But Lagway proved last year he could step into almost any situation and be just fine. In the six games Lagway started and finished, Florida went 6-0. The Gators were 2-5 in the other games that Lagway didn't start and finish.
Florida opens its season against Long Island and USF before taking a road trip to Baton Rouge to take on LSU.
