A Florida commit has officially shut down his recruitment and put all his focus on the University of Florida. Class of 2027 tight end Jackson Ballinger, out of Canterburg High School in Ohio, announced on his Instagram page and on "X" on Sunday that he has shut down his recruitment and that he is officially fully committing to Jon Sumrall and the University of Florida.

Jackson Ballinger shuts down his recruitments

Ballinger committed to the Gators back in February. He was in Gainesville for an official visit at the end of May, and that visit solidified that he was home. Now he is all-in and putting his focus on the process of transitioning to Gainesville upon graduating next year.

The 6’5”, 230lb TE was the No. 412 recruit nationally, the No. 25 TE, and the No. 16 prospect out of Ohio. He chose Florida over Missouri, Auburn, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and many others. As one of the Gators’ earliest recruits he told Tyler Harden of Swamp 247 that his official was more of a “celebration,” not a recruitment trip. That was one of the first signs that has now been confirmed – Florida is where the junior wanted to be. “Gator for life” is what his Instagram story read as he confirmed he’s done receiving offers and taking visits.

Ballinger credited tight ends coach Evan McKissack for having such a great impression on him. He described McKissack as being the type of coach he is looking for and was part of his decision to make his commitment set in stone, along with the amount of communication and care that the Florida coaches show throughout the process.

As we here at Hail Florida Hail recently discussed, Ballinger is a player who could come as close to filling in the gap at tight end for Kyle Pitts since Pitts left. Ballinger may not have the pure athleticism of Pitts, but he has a ton of traits on film that should translate well once he is on campus for good.
