The march of the recruiting rankings for the Florida Gators is continuing as Billy Napier and crew landed the commitment of four-star running back Carsyn Baker on Friday night.

The Georgia native had been previously predicted to wind up with the Gators and fits the mold of another speedy playmaker about to make his way to Gainesville.

Florida Gators land four-star RB Carsyn Baker

What immediately jumps out for Baker is his speed. Listed at 6'1" and 195 pounds, Baker ran 10.63 seconds in the 100-meter dash this past season at the prestigious Bob Hayes Invitationals and that speed easily shows up on film.

We previously profiled Baker when he was first predicted to land with Florida, and at the time, we said:

"You can't give Baker an open lane. If he sees one glimpse of daylight, he's got the breakaway speed to house the football. The same goes if he gets the edge. But what impressed me most on film was how active his legs stay through contact. Baker keeps his legs churning while being tackled, either making him fall forward or powering through the defender to remain upright.

He's flashed some ability to make defenders miss, often horizontally or with the spin move, but his open field elusiveness remains a skill he can continue to develop. Baker has also shown his pass-catching chops."

Baker had made an official visit to FSU and had official visits lined up with Ohio State and South Carolina at the time of his commitment.

His commitment also continues the momentum in June that Napier has been able to put together for the class of 2026. After a bit of a slow start that left Florida with just one commitment as recent as May 17, the Gators are now up to eight commitments for the class of 2026.

There is still work to be done as Florida is still 44th in the 247 team rankings and 11th within the SEC, but they are trending in the correct direction and should hopefully have some more commitments this weekend.
