Florida is hot on the recruiting trail this summer, hosting an abundance of 2026 recruits on official visits and nailing down pledges from some of its top targets.
The Gators are adding to the class at a blistering pace, receiving seven commitments as of June 9. The group features three four-stars and four three-stars.
But just how ahead of schedule is Billy Napier and his staff? I looked through the Gators' last three recruiting classes to see where they stood on June 10.
Florida adding recruits early and often in 2026 cycle
If it feels like the Gators have been on a heater this Summer, it's because they have been. Especially considering how the team was dead in the water at this point in 2024. On June 10, 2024, Florida had only landed three commitments, and while a fourth would come on June 12 from Hayden Craig and a fifth on June 21 from Micah Jones, the class was still leaps and bounds behind its 2026 counterpart. If it weren't for a handful of winter flips, Florida's 2025 class might never have caught up.
The 2024 class fared slightly better but didn't quite match the volume of the 2026 class. DJ Lagway headlined the group as a five-star recruit and one of the best prospects in the country, and he was one of four players to commit before the start of May. However, a multi-week dry spell slowed what seemed to be an excellent start. Florida's next commit didn't come until June 12, when they landed Mike Williams and then grabbed Noel Portnjagin on June 14.
If the 2025 and 2024 classes seemed to lag behind, the 2023 class was on a whole other planet. The Gators wound up with just three commitments by June 10. The first came in August of 2021, and the second and third came in May, showing just how slow the class came together.
This isn't to say Florida's 2026 class will be some record-breaking, national contender-building batch of recruits pushing for an elite national ranking. But it's a great signal for the future under Napier after his extension last year -- despite a 19-19 record in three seasons with UF.
