Jon Sumrall's first full recruiting class is starting to kick into gear as, in back-to-back days, the Gators have landed five-star OL Maxwell Hiller and four-star QB Davin Davidson. The two commitments give the Gators five verbal commits for its class of 2027, and the foundation of the class is starting to come together.
And with Hiller and Davidson now committed, Sumrall hopes he can parlay them into even more top-end skill players during Florida's spring game.
Florida to host an array of prospects at its spring game
An array of four-star prospects is set to be in Gainesville for the spring game. On the offensive side of the ball, the most notable of the group is four-star wide receiver Elias Pearl out of Port Charlotte.
Listed at 5'11" and 183 pounds, Pearl is a consensus four-star with Rivals having him the highest at 77th overall in the country.
He's a matchup nightmare and racked up over 1,000 yards receiving in 2025, and on film, it is easy to see why. He has speed to burn, but he doesn't just rely on a go route to get free. His slants, posts, stop-and-gos, and whip routes all have a crispness to them that no one seems to have an answer for. He does well to come back to the ball when it's underthrown and is slippery to bring down once the ball is in his hands.
Pearl has been linked to Florida for the past month, with Rivals filing multiple predictions that he is going to be a Gator. He has official visits lined up with Ole Miss, Georgia, and Virginia Tech, but all signs point to the Gators being in the lead.
Pearl will be in The Swamp for the spring game, and we are going to assume Sumrall is going to push the commitments of Hiller and Davidson to help encourage Pearl to join the party.
The Florida spring game is set to kick off at 12 PM on Saturday in The Swamp.
