The Florida Gators will finally get their shot at Jalen Brewster.

Brewster, the top-ranked player in the 2027 class at On3/Rivals, announced he will take an official visit to Gainesville this weekend. The Texas Tech commitment had been hinting at an official visit to Florida ever since he came on campus for a spring trip, but in the first two weeks of the official visit season, Brewster decided to go to LSU and Texas.

The timing of Brewster's trip couldn't be better. It's a small group coming to Gainesville this week with only seven official visitors on the schedule. This should give Jon Sumnrall and the Gators staff plenty of time to show Brewster and his family what life would be like in Florida. Brewster will not be the only five-star on campus this weekend either, as wide receiver Easton Royal will also be in town. It's the best opportunity Sumrall will have to completely change the course of action in the SEC.

5-star DL Jalen Brewster will take his official visit to Florida this weekend

Brewster is currently committed to the Red Raiders, and it's going to be hard to shake him off that pledge. He plays high school football in Cedar Hill, Texas and at the same high school where Joey McGuire built his legacy as one of the best prep coaches in the Lone Star State.

Sumtall, however, has plenty on his resume and, in his first six months at Florida, he's transformed the roster and is eager to meet the expectations of what Gators football should look like. He has a class that's ranked top-five nationally and consistently talks about the need for Florida to be more physical on both sides of the line. One of the ways Sumrall is going to accomplish that goal is by recruiting blue-chip players and no other player in this class defines that better.

What would Jalen Brewster bring to Florida's recruiting class?

Brewster's open flirtation with Florida added another level of credibility to Sumrall's efforts on the trail. Most Gator fans were very optimistic about what Sumrall could do in recruiting, but I don't think anyone expected it to be this good. When five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller committed to Florida in April, it was the first sign that Sumrall and the entire staff had the kind of juice on the trail that the previous coaching staff didn't. Hiller's commitment gave the Gators a centerpiece to build the offensive line around, adding four-star offensive tackles Kennedee Jackson and Elijah Hutcheson.

Florida is still looking for that centerpiece type of player on the defensive front. There are some defensive-line prospects already in the class, especially with the recent commitment of Zahmar Tookes. Brewster will give that group a true star and that is expected to be a difference maker the minute he steps on campus. Adding another five-star recruit to the group also puts the Gators in a position to compete for a number one overall class. Sumrall has been working hard to get Brewster here. Now it's time to bring him home.
