With one social media post, Jalen Brewster seems to confirm that the Florida Gators are a serious player in his recruitment.

Brewster, the top-ranked player in the country, has recently entertained the idea of flipping his Texas Tech commitment to the Gators and, on Tuesday, he added some fuel to that fire by reposting a graphic that a fan made for him on his Instagram page. The graphic is Brewster in a Gators uniform with his name below and some other verbiage like "chomp chomp" and "#1 recruit in the nation."

Florida has been hot on the trail and Jon Sumralll jumping feet first into Brewster's recruitment is a sign that he feels the Gators have a shot here and it's another opportunity for the new head coach to send shock waves across the country with his recruiting.

There are some complications to this recruitment. For starters, he is committed to Texas Tech and we know what kind of deep pockets the Red Raiders have. Brewster has already taken official visits to Indiana and SMU, so it's safe to assume both programs are still involved and, of course, Miami is sitting out there.

The next big step for Florida is getting Brewster on campus for an official visit. His next scheduled visit is May 29 to Miami and we can assume that Texas Tech will probably get a trip as well at some point. Can Sumrall get the Gators on Brewster's schedule for a June visit? If not, it's going to be hard to keep this recruitment going.

Sumrall has made it clear that he's going to make sure Florida is a factor in recruiting the elite players in the country. He knows that it's going to take a beefed-up roster to compete at the top of the SEC and he's been more than happy to promote while the Gators can bring to the table in terms of football success, development and academic integrity.

"They're going to get coached every day, and we're not going to change. Like I told recruits all the time, if you like us now, you're going to love us later. If you don't like me now, go somewhere else because I'm not changing," Sumrall said after the Gators' spring game.

Where does the Gators' 2027 recruiting class rank?

The Gators class is firmly in the top ten right now. Florida has the No. 7-ranked class in the country on On3/Rivals and the No. 6-ranked class on 247Sports. In both cases, the Gators' class is the third-best in the SEC behind Texas A&M and Oklahoma.

Sumrall made a huge splash in early April with the commitment of five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller and the Gators added another highly-touted trench warrior last week with four-star tackle Elijah Hutcheson. Another blue-chip prospect, four-star running back Andrew Beard, committed to Florida over the weekend. All in all, Florida has 14 prospects in the current class heading into a busy stretch of official visit weekends.
