Jon Sumrall officially has a great QB problem to have after Florida's spring game

The final decision won't be as simple as everyone expected.

For a lot of Florida fans, the growing assumption was that Georgia Tech quarterback transfer Aaron Philo was going to be locked into the starting job once he made the move to Gainesville. With him looking sharp throughout the spring, those calls became even louder.

Florida refuses to go away in battle to flip the nation's top recruit

However, it's easy to forget that Tramell Jones is still on campus and he showcased in a major way at the spring game that he's going to keep pushing for the job until head man Jon Sumrall makes a final call. If anything, Jones only helped himself in a big way during said spring game, as he was throwing the ball all over the field, tossing dimes left and right. Will this battle go all the way through fall camp? We think so.

Tramell Jones isn't ready to go down without a fight for Florida's QB1 job

The touchdown toss from Jones to Eric Singleton alone is making the rounds on social media, as it was a perfect throw and catch between the two playmakers. It wasn't the only impeccable throw from Jones, who truly impressed with the ball in his hands at The Swamp.

As for Philo? He got off to a bit of a rough start, which included some throws he most definitely wanted back. He finished the first half with a pair of interceptions. Thankfully he was able to clean things up and finish the day turning heads, but it's clear he's still got to polish some things up for Sumrall and Co.

In terms of his INTs, the Florida faithful can just be happy that these mistakes are being made in April and not in September. Again, there's time for Philo to clean some things up. At the same time, we've got to take note of how strong Jones looked from start to finish with the fans in the stands.

Sumrall will go back, watch some film and connect with both of the stud signal-callers on plays he liked and mistakes he wants corrected. Looking back on this particular session, though, it's safe to say that Jones did himself a major favor and that everyone has been reminded that nothing is set in stone on who will start come Week 1. This is a problem for Sumrall, but you know what, it's a great one to have.
