Jon Sumrall already posts recruiting win by keeping former 5-star signee with Florida

Florida's new head coach, Jon Sumrall, is slowly earning the trust of Gators across the country, and a recruiting win certainly doesn't hurt.

When a new head coach takes over a program, any win is a win. Whether that's on the recruiting trail, in the locker room, or on the field.

For Jon Sumrall, who is the newest head coach of the Florida Gators, he needed a few wins, and he needed them pretty quickly, as fans were a little disappointed in the program's choice for its next leader.

Earlier this week, Myles Graham took to social media to share a picture with Sumrall and a simple message, "Let's do it."

Myles Graham's message is step in right direction for Jon Sumrall

Now, don't get confused, Graham is the same guy who led the Gators in tackles this season, with 76 total tackles (36 solo). However, keeping a star like Graham on the roster is just as big a win for Sumrall as landing a five-star prospect out of high school.

It's common practice for players to leave a program when the head coach who recruited them (Billy Napier in this situation) leaves. Sumrall's win of the week is keeping his roster together so far.

Coming out of high school in 2024, Graham was a five-star linebacker, and his stats over the last two years have proven that he was well worth that rating.

With 106 career tackles, four pass deflections, three sacks, one forced fumble, and one interception, Graham has been a defensive monster for a Florida team that has struggled to find its footing. He was an undeniable leader for the team this season, and even more is expected out of him in the years to come.

If Sumrall can continue locking down the Gators' current roster while also finding a handful of recruiting wins at the high school level, Florida fans should be able to find it in themselves to trust their new head coach.
