Hayden Hansen looks like an even bigger loss for Florida with new transfer portal rankings

Florida tight end Hayden Hansen has only risen up the transfer portal rankings, rubbing salt in the wound left by his departure from the Gators.

While Hayden Hansen wasn't necessarily the star of Florida's show this season, he was the Gators' No. 3 receiver with 254 yards.

When he hit the transfer portal, the impact was undeniably felt, even by new head coach Jon Sumrall. Now, with a new transfer portal ranking circulating, his departure stings even more.

Saturday Blitz's Nicholas Rome released a ranking of the top 10 tight ends available in the portal, which is set to officially open on January 2, and none other than Hansen was front and center.

Over three seasons with the Florida Gators, Hansen amassed 611 receiving yards for five touchdowns, averaging 10.7 yards per catch. In 2023, he also returned two kickoffs for 17 yards and scored a two-point conversion.

Rome listed Hansen as the No. 10 tight end available, directly behind South Carolina's Michael Smith, who just finished the season with just 20 receptions on only two receptions. He listed Benjamin Brahmer from Iowa State as the No. 1 tight end.

Hansen is one of 20 Gators expected to hit the portal when it officially opens, alongside starting quarterback DJ Lagway, wideout Eugene Wilson III, and many other blue-chip transfers.

With Sumrall set to take over the Florida program, officially coaching his first season with the Gators in 2026, transfers and decommitments were expected, especially following the firing of former head coach Billy Napier.
