Last week, we highlighted how one of the new random beefs that has developed online is between Florida fans and Georgia Tech fans. Brent Key’s comments last week seemed directed at Florida center Harrison Moore, who transferred from Georgia Tech, set off a back and forth between the two fan bases.

Throw in the fact that Tech fans have tried to convince themselves that Buster Faulkner was overrated and Chris Weinke was the real brains behind their operation, and there were plenty of Gator fans who watched Thursday night’s game between Georgia Tech and Colorado with a heightened interest.

If Thursday night was any indication, Florida fans should feel encouraged that the Gators raided the right people from Atlanta.

Georgia Tech looks lost now that Florida stole all their talent

Georgia Tech lost to Colorado and looked awful on offense in the process. The Yellow Jackets had a grand total of 288 yards on offense, with just 51 yards rushing. It’s notable because Key had insinuated last week that last year’s offenive line was a mess and they were going to be so much better this year, partiuarly at center.

Georgia Tech’s new center, Jameson Riggs, was called for a false start and finished the night with a PFF grade of 39.9.

Got it.

What last night hinted at is that Florida grabbed the right people from Georgia Tech, and all the claims that Buster Faulkner is overrated fell flat. As a reference point, the Yellow Jackets had 463 yards against Colorado last year.

Question: Do you think Tech fans wish they still had Harrison Moore and Faulkner today?

That’s rhetorical.

If the Yellow Jackets had been high-flying last night and looked like they did last year, then there could be a hint of doubt whether or not Faulkner is the real deal. But for Florida fans, there is a level of excitement because of the creativity that Faulkner is known for, combined with a cache of talent at the skill positions that can unlock a plethera of options. And last night showcased that he truly was the brains of the operation.

Florida will get a chance to showcase their newfound players from Georgia Tech tomorrow night against FAU.
