For a Florida Gators offense that mustered up just one touchdown in Week 2 against South Florida, having as many playmakers as possible available against the No. 3 Tigers is incredibly important.

They'll be without freshman wide receiver Dallas Wilson for a third straight week, delaying his highly anticipated collegiate debut. He remains without a clear timeline for return.

Dallas Wilson has yet to make his debut

That's not to say Florida will have a lack of options at the wide receiver position, though. Fellow freshman Vernell Brown III has provided some explosiveness, as the speedy wideout has racked up eight catches for 135 yards through two games.

Eugene Wilson, who has been used almost exclusively as a short-yardage option -- a puzzling decision by Billy Napier -- leads the team in receptions and has scored a pair of touchdowns.

J. Michael Sturdivant, Aidan Mizell and Tank Hawkins have also been involved in the passing game, but Wilson was talked up to be a game-changing talent with his performance in spring and fall camps.

Wilson was seen wearing a walking boot ahead of the game against USF.

Head coach Billy Napier called Wilson a "tough guard" and a "tough matchup" during SEC media days and said, "there's no question Dallas is going to make our team better."

He showed what sort of impact he's capable of making during Florida's spring game. Wilson caught 10 passes for 195 receiving yards and two touchdowns during the scrimmage, and while a scrimmage isn't the same thing as a game, it provided plenty of optimism and excitement among Gators fans.

And with each week that passes, Wilson not only loses out on valuable game reps for his individual development but misses the chance to build a chemistry with DJ Lagway.

There's no question that the best version of the Florida Gators includes Wilson out wide, but that version may not be seen until late in the season -- if it comes at all.
