Now that Gator Nation has burned The Swamp to the ground following the dumpster fire from Saturday's debacle against USF, Florida does have to get on a plane and travel to Baton Rouge this Saturday to take on No. 3 LSU. Given how bad the USF loss was, one would think the Gators would be 10 or more point underdogs this week.

However, whether it is a belief that the USF loss was a fluke or just a lack of faith in LSU, the betting line for Florida vs. LSU is not only in the single digits, but it has been dropping since it was first released.

Line for Florida vs. LSU has been falling

Even before the USF game, initial odds were starting to drop at 8.5 points for LSU. It wasn't a great omen, but it was subject to change after Week 2.

The line crept as high as 9.5 points after the USF loss, but now the line is dropping and can be found as low as 7.5 points in favor of LSU.

It's still a touchdown favorite in favor of the Tigers, but the fact that it has been dropping even after Week 2 is a sign that Vegas actually sees hope for Florida this Saturday.

At the core of the hope is more of a reflection of how anemic LSU has also looked on offense through two weeks. Pick any standard or advanced metric you want, and it doesn't paint a pretty picture for the Tigers despite the cache of talent they have on the offensive side of the ball.

And beyond a couple of coverage busts, Florida's defense has played well enough through two weeks and was not the main culprit against USF.

What Vegas is starting to envision is a bit of a rock fight between the two teams, and if the Gators can just keep things close into the 4th quarter, all it takes is one magical throw from DJ Lagway to flip the script on its head.
