Four-star running back commit Carsyn Baker took an official visit to Kentucky this past weekend. The timing of the prospect from the Atlanta-area prospect couldn't be lost on anyone as the Wildcats were hosting and beating the Gators, 38-7.
Baker has kept his recruitment open since he committed to Florida back in May. He has visited Kentucky and Florida State on multiple occasions and taken official visits to both places. It also seems like Baker has been disconnected from the Gators since Billy Napier was fired. If not, how can this be explained?

What's Baker's committed status with Florida?
Hard to say. It feels like it's pretty soft, and he's just waiting for the right time or the right opportunity to flip to another program. There's nothing wrong with that approach, because there's no guarantee Baker will want to play for the next Gators' coach.
Baker is probably having a good time with his recruitment and he should. He's worked hard to put himself in the position to be a top recruit and garner all of this attention. It's his right to take the visits he wants to take and see what he wants to see.
Obviously, this is going to rub many Gator fans the wrong way, but that's part of recruiting. The prospects can have a change of heart until (and even after) they sign letters of intent.
Gator fans are split on how to react
Baker's post drew a lot of attention, which was probably the point, and it drew a lot of responses. Some were critical, others actually were more understanding. It wasn't the usual unanimous voice of "we don't want you anyway." It seems like some fans are at least acknowledging that Florida is a tough spot for recruits to commit to until they see the new vision for the program.
Don’t fall for it young man! UF getting reorganized from top to bottom, new coach, more NIL $, which was already high, and with all yall young talent, the rise will be quick! 🏠 🐊

Kentucky sucks! But unfortunately we're worse! I don't follow recruiting, so I have no clue who you are.. But if you have other options, I would look hard at those options.. Because Kentucky will always be Kentucky.. & I'm not sure when UF will be good again.
