Gators Offense Taking Hits as "Minor" Injuries Begin to Stack Up

This offseason has felt like the Florida Gators have been unable to have all of their offense together at once. DJ Lagway missed all of spring camp with his often talked about shoulder issue, but everything seemed on track for Florida to be ready to go for fall camp.

Then Lagway was in a walking boot for a calf issue, but returned on Saturday to throw during the public sessions of practice.

But then over the past few days, a handful of other Gators on offense have had varying degrees of issues pop up as the training room for Florida is getting filled up quickly.

Multiple Gators miss practice on Tuesday

Based on reports from multiple media members at practice on Tuesday, including Zach Goodall of Swamp247 and Zach Abolverdi of Gators Online, these Gators were missing in action:

  • Jadan Baugh
  • Treyaun Webb
  • Aidan Mizell
  • Eugene Wilson III
  • Kahleil Jackson
  • Tony Livingston

Webb had surgery on his hamstring and is expected to be out for a month, while Jackson is still coming back from the torn ACL he suffered last season, but the rest appear to be "minor" injuries that just need maintenance.

In one breath, this could be a case of nothing to see here, and by the time the Gators kick off against LIU, we'll all forget this random practice from a Tuesday.

But it is worthy of raising an eyebrow or two that Florida has had this many notable guys pop up with issues before even starting to hit and tackle each other.

Wilson is returning from a hip injury that sidelined him for the bulk of 2024, while Mizell is expected to fight for the WR3 spot.

And even if these issues are minor and everyone winds up back on the field, it's yet another day of practice when Florida wasn't able to operate with its expected starters on offense and is something to keep an eye on if things look sloppy to open the season.
