The playing of the alma mater in college football is one of the unique nods that make the sport great. It's a way for Florida Gator players to say thank you to the fans who showed up while being united as a team, win or lose.

But following their 20-10 defeat to LSU that included five interceptions from DJ Lagway, players from Florida were in no mood to stick around with the band.

Florida players skip out on the UF Alma Mater

In a video posted by Zach Goodall of Swamp247, the vast majority of the roster walked past the band during the playing of the UF Alma Mater.

This isn't the first time Gator players have skipped out on the tradition in the Billy Napier Era, but this might be the most notable in terms of how few players showed up.

On its surface, this is just one more thing to pile on the Gators on a night when the defense played well but the offense couldn't stay out of its own way.

But this is also game three we are talking about, and players are already bailing on the Alma Mater, not game ten as part of a long season.

For as much as Billy Napier talks about a process and building a culture, all it took was a ten-point loss on the road to the No. 3-ranked team in the country for that culture to say, "Nah, I'm good."

Because if one were to study the timelines of coaches who don't keep their jobs much longer, players bailing on the alma mater at any school is usually one of the first signs.

Florida is now 1-2 on the season and has to go on the road to face Miami with College GameDay in town. But if next Saturday goes like this Saturday, the odds of players sticking around to sing Hail Florida Hail feel low.
