Saturday night was frustrating for Florida Gator fans because it felt like there was a real chance to pull off the upset over LSU. The Gators kept the Tigers at bay for the most part on defense, but it was the offense for Florida that scored just ten points while also surrendering a pick-six that led to a 20-10 defeat in Baton Rouge.
The avenues for Billy Napier to escape are becoming fewer and fewer, and social media lets him have it.
Florida losses to LSU 20-10
The core problem with the Gators is that Billy Napier runs an offense anyone with a pulse could figure out.
And after entering 2025 with a message of "Spot the ball," Florida's offense had looked anything but ready for that.

I honestly can’t think of a head coach who has lacked more awareness than Billy Napier. It’s astounding.

Hate it had to go down like this. Billy Napier should've been fired last year. This more embarrassing than Miami at home last year. He's just not the guy for the gig

It is not hyperbole to say that Billy Napier is one of the worst head coaches in the past century of Gator football
— Jake Winderman (@jakewinderman) September 14, 2025
Every week it’s the same stupidity on the sidelines. He doesn’t learn from his mistakes. He is unfathomably stubborn & doesn’t adjust
It’s a horrible combination!
Billy Napier has no business calling plays at the college level, let alone in the SEC.

Entirely too predictable.

If you gave Billy Napier a picture book and told him that he can’t eat until he finishes it, he would starve to death.

DJ Lagway struggles
The headline from this game is the five interceptions that DJ Lagway threw. Some of them, including the pick six, were a byproduct of a predictable offense.
Others were just forcing things downfield that didn't need to be forced.

Florida's DJ Lagway's 5 interceptions are still 4 shy of the UF & NCAA record of 9 interceptions thrown by UF QB John Reaves in 1969. There is still 2 minutes left, so the record may not be safe

The bottom is falling out
Increasingly, it seems like the pressure is going to be too great for Florida's brass to ignore. Gator fans aren't just frustrated that Florida lost; they are frustrated that yet another game that was there for the taking has slipped away with an array of issues that aren't new.
This is year four of the Billy Napier Era, and yet some of the issues and errors look like mistakes that were made in year one.
And when this was supposed to be the year that Florida stepped up and put it all together, only for everything to collapse like a house of cards, it's no wonder that Gators fans are annoyed.
If you are keeping score at home, Miami blew out USF, the same USF squad that marched into The Swamp and beat Florida and the same Miami squad the Gators get to play next week.
