Florida had 16 recruits on campus for official visits over the weekend, and they capped off the busy three-day stretch by besting some of the SEC's top programs to add a three-star interior offensive lineman G'Nivre Carr.
Carr joins four-star quarterback Will Griffin and three-star defensive tackle Jamir Perez in the Gators' 2026 recruiting class, bumping their national ranking to 51st, according to On3.com.
IOL G'Nivre Carr commits to the Florida Gators
Carr was one of the 16 aforementioned recruits in Gainesville over the weekend, and the Bradenton, Florida, native was impressed enough to give a verbal commitment Sunday.
It's a big (literally) victory for Billy Napier and the Gators, who beat out SEC rivals Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee to land the 6-foot-4, 315-pound Carr. Carr had official visits to all three schools scheduled in June, and he also had significant interest from Deion Sanders and Colorado.
In total, Carr commanded 40 offers. Yet, he chose to stay home. Carr shined at IMG Academy last season, playing multiple different positions along the offensive line and flashing a fascinating blend of power and speed.
At the collegiate level, Carr is slated to play on the interior, but his athleticism is a perfect fit for Napier's wide zone running scheme. He's a high-motor player -- you can see him blocking defenders 15 or 20 yards downfield frequently in his highlights -- and is always attached to a body when the whistle blows.
IMG Academy finished the 2024 season with a 7-2 record, and MaxPreps labeled them the 17th-best team in the country. Additionally, Carr will spend his senior season under the tutelage of new head coach Greg Studrawa, who notably won a national championship in 2008 as LSU's offensive line coach.
And, if recent history is any indicator of the future, Carr could be in line to play a significant role early in his time at Gainesville. Fellow IMG Academy alumnus Knijeah Harris started at left guard in 2024 as a sophomore, and with most of the current interior offensive linemen being upperclassmen, Carr could make an impact in his first couple of seasons on campus.
