Recruiting season is in full swing across the country, and Florida is certainly getting in on the action. The Gators will welcome 20 recruits to Gainesville this weekend for official visits. Among those dropping by is Class of 2026 cornerback CJ Bronaugh, who's currently committed to the University of Nebraska.

The four-star from Winter Garden, Florida, committed to the Cornhuskers on November 26, 2024, but is still weighing his options.

On3 Sports listed Bronaugh as one of the five likeliest recruits visiting this weekend to commit to UF. Billy Napier and the Gators will have to beat out Florida State, Penn State and Nebraska to land Bronaugh's pledge. Bronaugh is set for official visits to all three schools, but Florida will have him on campus first.

Bronaugh's speed jumps off the screen, and for good reason. He didn't lose a single 100-meter dash race during the 2025 track and field season, capping off the spring with a state championship. He also won state championships in the 100m and 200m races in 2024.

On the turf, Bronaugh used his speed to return three of his six interceptions for touchdowns. He routinely undercuts and jumps routes, getting in a strong position for interceptions or breakups.

Bronaugh's speed is complemented by his lengthy frame and willingness to get physical. Bronaugh was physical at the catch point and successfully jockeyed with wideouts to make plays on the football or at least deny the pass-catcher access.

He's still a tad undersized, being listed as 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, but that didn't prevent Bronaugh from being a willing tackler. Bronaugh was quick to converge on checkdowns and screen passes, and even logged some sacks as a blitzer.

The Florida native's mixture of length and speed are mouthwatering, and the raw skills are there. If he can put it all together, Bronaugh could be an excellent player.

Commitment timeline

Bronaugh said in an interview with Rivals that he's focused on these four schools (Florida, Nebraska, Penn State, Florida State), and isn't likely to take any other official visits.

He'll take the four official visits and then take some time to think before making a decision, which he expects to announce sometime in July.
