Gators at risk of first commit flip since Billy Napier's firing

CJ Bronaugh has had quite the recruiting journey. The Winter Garden native was a Nebraska commit, but then flipped to Florida in June. Even after his commitment, rumors swirled on whether he might flip again, which he tried to downplay.

But now that Billy Napier has been fired and the Gators are 3-7 on the season, it appears another college football powerhouse might be swooping in to pull off a flip away from the Gators.

CJ Bronaugh is predicted to flip to Ohio State

Steve Wiltfong of On3 has logged a prediction that Bronaugh is going to flip from Florida to Ohio State.

When we first profiled Bronaugh back in May, we said:

"On the turf, Bronaugh used his speed to return three of his six interceptions for touchdowns. He routinely undercuts and jumps routes, getting in a strong position for interceptions or breakups.

Bronaugh's speed is complemented by his lengthy frame and willingness to get physical. Bronaugh was physical at the catch point and successfully jockeyed with wideouts to make plays on the football or at least deny the pass-catcher access."

Even after he flipped to Florida, questions kept coming up on whether that commitment would stick. Back in August, he claimed, "I know this is where I belong," referring to Gainesville.

Even after Napier was fired, Bronaugh claimed"I'm shocked, but a lot of people saw it coming, but I'm still a Gator at the end of the day."

But like many others in Florida's class of 2026, Bronaugh has kept his options open, and Ohio State has seemingly taken advantage. They offered Bronaugh on October 25, the week Napier was fired, and convinced Bronaugh to come to Ohio State on an official visit this past weekend.

If Bronaugh does flip, it's a reminder of something we have to say anytime Florida gains a verbal commitment:

Until the ink on the NLI is dry, anything is possible, no matter what a prospect may say.
