DJ Lagway did make an appearance for Florida Football at the spring game on Saturday, but as expected, he did not throw in The Swamp. Lagway has been resting his shoulder all spring and has not thrown a football all spring.

After the spring game, Billy Napier shared some positive news that should help ease concerns from Gator fans.

Florida Football: On The Mend

Napier shared at his press conference that everything is on schedule and that he has no concerns about where Lagway is at with his recovery:

"DJ's doing great. He'll start throwing here in a couple weeks. But, yeah, just in general, very positive there. The lower body stuff is good and I think he's been able to do that and I think we're working on just kind of getting him in position for the next step but in general, there are a lot of positives. Everything's on schedule."

Napier went on to explain that once OTAs start in June, he expects Lagway to be 100%.

The status of Lagway has been the source of much discussion this offseason. There have been rumblings that he could need surgery at some point, though those rumblings haven't picked up a ton of steam from Gator insiders.

The update from Napier is in line with what he has indicated all along, that resting Lagway was mostly a precaution to make sure he is good to go in the fall.

Lagway was undefeated in 2024 in games that he started and finished. He suffered a hamstring injury against Georgia that forced him to miss the Texas game, but there was minimal chatter last year about his shoulder being a concern.

Florida will open their 2025 season against Long Island and USF before a road trip to LSU to open SEC play in September.
