Former Georgia legend gives Jon Sumrall his full endorsement at Florida

A rare bit of praise from a rival legend is not something that happens every day.

Florida head coach Jon Sumrall has officially been through his first spring football season, and now all attention will be turned towards recruiting and building for the future before fall camps start. Sumrall is working through his first offseason now with the Gators, and he hasn't held back at all about his thoughts on things within the program.

Sumrall has been completely transparent about the state of the Florida football program, and while fans may not like to hear it, at least he sees is an is making plans to change it. That is something that former Georgia Bulldog legend David Pollack has noticed and actually gave Sumrall praise for.

It is not often that a rival will give praise, especially if they are a Georgia fan or player, but Pollack actually spoke very highly of what Sumrall is doing right now at Florida, and believes it could turn into big things for the Gators.

"I'm buying Jon Sumrall, I am absolutely buying him," Pollack said on his podcast 'See Ball Get Ball.' "I think he will be the closest to Urban [Meyer] that they've [Florida] had."

Pollack appreciates that Sumrall doesn't hold back and has called out his own team for things like entitlement and not wanting to always work hard to get the success they want. Pollack sees something different in Sumrall and believes that he can be the guy to take Florida to the next level.

Jon Sumrall has everything to gain at Florida

Sumrall came from Tulane, a Group of Five school that was competing in The American, but ultimately wasn't going to have what it needed to be a National Championship team. Now, at Florida, Sumrall has everything he could want with the money and resources to build a championship program, something Florida fans are desperate to get back to.

It feels like Sumrall can only gain from his situation at Florida, as previous Florida coaches like Billy Napier and Dan Mullen have still found other opportunities after crashing and burning in Gainesville. Sumrall has the chance to really turn Florida back into the dominant power it once was, and Pollack clearly sees that, even from a rival's perspective.
