Former Gator Ricky Pearsall looked healthy and ready for the season on Saturday, catching three of four targeted passes. Pearsall started the preseason on the PUP with a hamstring injury, but back on the field Saturday, the 24-year old looked healthy and ready to start the season.
Pearsall, as mentioned, caught three of the four passes that were sent his direction. He accumulated a total of 42 receiving yards Saturday night, averaging 14 yards, and his longest of the night was 21 yards as the 49ers went on to defeat the Raiders 22-19 in week two of the preseason and Pearsall’s first game off the PUP list.
The connection between Brock Purdy and Pearsall picked up right where they left off in 2024. On the first drive of the day, Purdy found Pearsall, who under pressure pulled the ball down for a great completion.

Pearsall had a few opportunities to also test the hamstring, running a crossing route toward midfield. With the underneath linebacker trying to beat him, Pearsall found open space and Purdy again threw a dime to Pearsall for the completion.
Borck Purdy spoke with the media following the 49ers win on Saturday and talked about his connection with Pearsall and his receivers.
“We’re always talking,” said Purdy of his and Pearsall’s discussions in camp on offensive strategies. “He loves football, I love football, and when you have two guys who are willing to put in the extra work and explain what we’re trying to get out of a play and reps, I think a lot of great things can happen from that,” stated Purdy.
“I feel like it’s natural, both of us, our chemistry and everything,” said Purdy of him and Pearsall. While he noted it was only one preseason game, he said he and Pearsall are ready to take that momentum into week three and beyond as the season quickly approaches. He said both he and Pearsall have improved during the offseason and the work is paying off.
Pearsall and the 49ers will now head back to San Francisco to take on the Los Angeles Charges in week three on Saturday at 8:30PM.
