The 2025 Florida Gators football season will begin on August 30th in one of the best atmospheres in all of football, under the lights at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The Gators are set to face off against the Long Island Sharks. The sweet sound of Tom Petty’s “Won’t Back Down” will be to a blacked-out stadium lit by phone lights to start the first fourth quarter of the season. It’s a tradition like no other and one that Florida fans will sing loud and proud under those stadium lights in Gainesville.
August 30 is “Community Day” in Gainesville, welcoming local organizations and community groups from throughout North Florida with special ticket offers.
Following their season opener, the Gators, as announced in this grouping of will welcome their in-state rival South Florida Bulls on September 6th at 4:15 p.m. That game is the Gators’ annual Championship Reunion weekend.
Florida vs. LSU will be under the lights this season
The Gators will hit the road for the first time in 2025. They will head to Louisiana to take on in-conference rival LSU 7:30 p.m, under the lights in Louisiana. This isn't a surprise that Florida's SEC opener is going to be a night game, but it will make Florida's road opener more difficult as LSU fans will have all day to prepare, shall we say
The fourth game that was announced by the NCAA is always the highly anticipated, biggest cocktail party of the year, the annual Florida-Georgia Game. The game will take place on November 1st in Jacksonville, as usual, with kickoff for that one set for 3:30 PM ET.
The Gators have excitement coming into the season after they finished the 2024 season with four straight wins. Some preseason predictions have Florida in the top ten, and the consensus is if he can stay dangerous, DJ Lagway is going to be a force to be reckoned with, and one that some scouts are saying could be a generational quarterback.
